26 May PRESS RELEASE: INSURTECH PAVES THE WAY FOR SUPPLY CHAIN
Innovations in Insurtech help shippers and logistics service providers to manage risk of disturbing logistics processes. By unlocking and analysing operational data, Insurtech can reveal risks like theft, accidents and damage for individual companies, processes, lanes or even individual drivers. The attendees of the round table Insurtech & Logistics see that it is not a decreasing risk premium, but a reliable, undisturbed process is the most important added value of Insurtech for logistics.
On Tuesday May 16th Holland Fintech and Dinalog organised a round table on Insurtech & Logistics. Experts from insurance companies, data analytics start-ups, transport IT suppliers, Fintech companies, leasing organisations and logistics service providers explored the business opportunities for new Insurtech applications.
The central question was how Insurtech can develop new added value by using existing available data in supply chains. “It would be great to better advise our logistic clients, for example about robbery risks around Paris for specific vehicles in their fleet in specific timeframes.” according to Maarten Kleyn of insurance company HDI. The round table concluded that, the opportunities and propositions can be made more concrete to deliver added value for logistics service providers. The diverse group saw clear potential to breach some of the barriers to these innovations with small pilots. Therefore, Holland Fintech & Dinalog will start in June together with the Erasmus Center of Entrepreneurship by elaborating on more tangible propositions. For this fall, there is an Insurtech Working Session on the program to further create concrete products. This roundtable is part of an ambitious innovation program driven by Dinalog and Holland FinTech. Together with several parties the program aims to share knowledge and seek collaboration throughout the logistics value chain. Next roundtable will be organized in June on international trade.
